Biography

Jessica L. Newsome, Ed.D., is a purpose-driven educator and leader committed to empowering individuals to thrive academically, socially, and personally. Her work centers on creating inclusive environments where individuals feel seen, supported, and encouraged to recognize their strengths and reach their full potential. While her commitment to education and leadership extends to all individuals, she has a dedicated focus on supporting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities as they navigate higher education and beyond.

She earned her Doctor of Education (Ed.D.) in Organizational Leadership with an Emphasis in Christian Ministry from Grand Canyon University. Her doctoral research explored the experiences of African American female pastors in overcoming gender-based marginalization to become pastoral leaders. This research reflects her broader commitment to elevating underrepresented voices and contributing to conversations surrounding leadership, inclusion, access, and opportunity.

Beyond her work in higher education, Jessica is an ordained Elder and business owner who values service, advocacy, mentorship, and the transformative power of community. She brings creativity and purpose into the many spaces in which she serves, believing that meaningful leadership begins with recognizing the strengths and potential in others. Across education, leadership, ministry, and community engagement, she remains committed to helping individuals move forward with confidence, purpose, and hope.
