Recap of our New MPAcc Student Orientation

While Denver may be in the midst of a heat wave, our Fall 2026 term is already underway!
Last week, we packed swag bags and officially welcomed our newest graduate students at our New MPAcc Student Orientation. At its core, this event is all about people and connection. Our goal is to help new students build relationships and feel like they are a key part of the larger Accounting Roadrunner Community from day one.
From meeting faculty and classmates to hearing from current students and alumni, the evening helped students begin building their MPAcc network while gaining insight into the graduate student experience. By the end of the evening, the excitement was evident, and we hope students left feeling more confident and less anxious about taking this next step in their academic journey.
As one attendee shared: “I really enjoyed getting to meet people within the MPAcc program and hearing from alumni about their experience during this orientation event. It was also great to see who some of our professors are going to be. Top Tips for New MPAcc Students
Throughout the evening, faculty, current students, and alumni shared advice to help our newest MPAcc students make the most of their graduate school experience:
- Take care of yourself and prioritize your well-being.
- Get involved by attending events and exploring extracurricular opportunities.
- Connect with faculty. They are an invaluable resource throughout your MPAcc journey and beyond.
- Communicate early and often. Let us know what you need so we can support your success.
- Approach your coursework with intention by asking yourself: How will this help me become a better accounting professional and future leader?
The connections don’t stop at orientation. 
This fall, we’re hosting a 3-part virtual series, 鈥淎ccounting Career Toolkit,鈥� designed to help students explore career opportunities, navigate the interview process, and build the professional skills needed for long-term success. Through insights from experienced accounting professionals in our Accounting Roadrunner Community, attendees will gain practical advice to confidently move from student to professional.
